2022.10.23 Book Launch: Louise Akers

Please join the Organism for Poetic Research and Propeller Books to celebrate the launch of Louise Akers’ ELIZABETH/THE STORY OF DRONE! The celebration will take place Sunday October 23, 2022 at 7pm at Unnameable Books in Brooklyn with readings by Louise Akers, Benjamin Krusling, MC Hyland, and Kirsten Ihns. 

 

Louise Akers is a poet based in Brooklyn, NY. Their chapbook, Alien year, was selected for the 2020 Oversound Chapbook Prize, and their first full length book, Elizabeth/The story of Drone, was published in September 2022 as part of Propeller Books’ Contemporary Poetry Series. 

MC Hyland (she/they) is the founding editor of DoubleCross Press, a poetry micropress. She is the author of THE END (Sidebrow 2019), Neveragainland (Lowbrow Press 2010), and the forthcoming book of poems and short essays, A Book of Borrowed Light (Everybody Press 2023), as well as over a dozen poetry chapbooks/artist books. An Assistant Professor at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA, MC is also a letterpress printer, walking enthusiast, and committed home-baker and classic-cocktail-maker.

Kirsten Ihns is a poet and filmmaker finishing up her PhD at UChicago, studying film and contemporary experimental poetics. Her first book is sundaey (Propeller Books, 2020), and she is most recently the author of a pamphlet with the Earthbound Poetry Series

Benjamin Krusling is the author of Glaring (Wendy’s Subway, 2020) and a chapbook, It got so dark, is forthcoming in December.
