In My Poetics Maureen N. McLane melds her identities as a poet, critic, theorist, and scholar, delving deeply into the essence of poetry. Written in an engaging and innovative style, McLane’s essays explore a wide range of poetic forms, from romantic-era odes to contemporary works, including haikus and haibuns. She raises thought-provoking questions about how poems shape thought processes, the role of rhyme in cognition, and the relationship between poetry and its environment. McLane’s interdisciplinary approach draws on influences ranging from Wallace Stevens to Hannah Arendt, resulting in a rich and intellectually adventurous work. Interwoven with her own poetry, My Poetics offers readers a unique journey into the heart of poetry and poetics.
